'Mother' and 'Father' Discussing Important Matters over Grilled Cheeses

Perdone. (sorry in spanish)

there is someone reading this over my shoulder right now. Why, you ask? Well, simply because I am typing this in a public area. Oh. wait. he read what I wrote and is gone now. His name is Tim and sometimes he lets me have a bit of his coffee...but only if it;s the good kind.

So the post today: Things About Canadians that I Don't Understand
(as explained by a 28 year old tim dunlop, a scottish laddie)

1. Victoria Day

Tim as paraphrased by Johannah: It's basically a day for lazy Canadians to take yet another day off in the year to celebrate a dead monarch. Although, he adds, it was under her reign that Britain conquered one quarter of the world (a vast majority for one country) which were already colonized by other  European countries and be the mother of nine wonderful children. Not to mention India.

2. Bagged Milk

Tim hasn't seen this in Alberta but it does exist in Ontario for sure. I have no idea why we would want to sell milk in bags but it is a great conversation starter. Nothing else to say here except for the fact that this originated in some European country, which just goes to show that Canada is actually more influenced by the blasted lobster backs than we realized.

3. The song: God Save the Queen

Tim says that this song was Canada's national anthem up until 1980 at which point the already existing, "Oh Canada" but which is still sung with fervent ardour. Don't ask me why, I've practically given up on trying to understand why Canada as a whole appears to be enamoured with Britain.

4. Saying "zed" instead of "zee"

As explained by Tim: The British said "zed" instead of the more phonetically pleasing "zee" because that's how the British said it and what the British do goes. And to be honest, Tim feels quite strongly about this subject...although he doesn't have a logical explanation as to why it is better.
